Renting motorbike from Lao adv was the best decision we made in this trip, we rented Honda CRF 250 for 10 days to explore Laos on our own and had the best time! Our trip in northern Laos wouldn’t be as much fun without this bike. With road conditions like Laos, we felt much much safer having this bike , knowing that we can explore Laos and this bike will go anywhere without any issue. The service is very good & communication is excellent, we would recommend Lao adv to anyone! They also have all the extra gears for rent as well , very professional service & highly recommended.

We were a group of friends aged 60+ who joined this fabulous off-road tour. The trip was adventurous and sometimes tough but also fun. Each night we stayed in a different location, always in excellent hotels and dining at the best restaurants on site. Frankly, the tour operator did not spare any expense on comfort and quality. If you are looking for a real adventure, go for it.

We had an absolute ball in Laos doing what is commonly known as the “Northern Loop” – which provided a mixture of all surfaces and many mountains to keep you on the ball -an intro to Laos for us and we’ll be coming back for more. Myself and four friends (three of us just hit 60yrs this year hence the trip) rented a mixture of CRF250Ls and CRF300Ls which all performed faultlessly. For all those adventure motorcyclists who think you need something bigger, forget it. These are the perfect bikes for the conditions, fuel injection gives the bike great throttle response and the bikes are light, quite comfortable and very forgiving – you can mess up and not be in a heap on the ground. We chose Laos Adventure Tours over the others as Chris openly encourages you to call and have a chat. Chris being an English bike mechanics gave us confidence that the bikes would be well serviced and prepped for us. A call on the phone confirmed he knew his stuff. Whilst we hired the bikes and did our own thing Chris was very helpful with advice before the trip and during the trip and I’d strongly suggest to give him a call and see whether doing it your own way or as part of a tour works best for you. If you’re looking for a truly unique offroad trip through remote areas then I’d strongly suggest considering a tour – once again call Chris and chat. The website has lots of information on tour offerings. Whilst the approach to driving in Laos is fairly “loose” but leisurely, we felt safe as everyone is accommodating from mopeds through to truck drivers – the courtesy of truck drivers was definitely noted by our team . Even the local animals had road sense apart from a few crazy chickens who luckily lived to cluck another day. We originally thought of doing Vietnam however being Australian this was a problem. Vietnamese law requires any motorbike rider operating a vehicle above 50cc to hold a valid license recognized in Vietnam and an International Driving Permit issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention. Australia issues IDPs under the 1949 Geneva Convention, which Vietnam does not officially recognize. People still do it however we weren’t risking the repercussions if anything went wrong. One of our team suggested Laos and we didn’t look back and recognized that a trip in Vietnam would not have been anywhere near as much an enjoyable adventure. The local Beer Lao is good too and the locals are very friendly and gracious. Give Chris a call and do Laos!

Lao Adventure Tours know how to manage a great off road motorcycle experience. Seven buddies from all over the Wold completed the 7 Day Hill Tribes and Trails. The organization, riding, food, accommodation and overall experience were excellent. Would recommend. Chris, Mr D. And Harry are fantastic and resourceful hosts.

I have used the services of Lao Adv Tours for the last 3 years. We have traveled around very remote areas of the country where it can be difficult due to the road conditions. Chris is very knowledgeable of the different areas of the country and very experienced in traveling in less than ideal conditions. Additionally, having an experienced translator, Huelee, is a necessary asset because of the areas we travel to where English is not spoken. Prior to meeting Chris, I had used the services of another company where I was assured that my driver/guide spoke some English and was familiar with the area I wanted to travel to. Upon meeting him, it was immediately evident that he did not speak any English and understood very little of it, and he did not know the area we traveled to at all. This was not a good experience. I highly recommend Lao Adv Tours to anyone who wants to travel in Laos, whether on a motorbike or in a vehicle. In my opinion, I don't think you can find anyone else that can provide all the services that they offer with this much knowledge and professionalism.
