Itinerary
Day 1: Santa Marta - Manaure (246 kilometers/153 miles)
- Starts at 9 a.m. - Take the back roads through Paso del Mango - Visit the traditional fishing town of Dibulla for a Colombian style lunch - Riding tour around the salt flats in Manaure - Watch the sunset on the beach in Manaure
Day 2: Manaure - Cabo de la Vela (120 kilometers/75 miles)
- Go through the winding trails and desert flats through the desert - Enter the desert through Cabo de la Vela - Ride around Cabo de la Vela and visit all the sites with an indigenous guide - Have fresh seafood and cheap beers for dinner
Day 3: Cabo de la Vela - Buritaca (276 kilometers/172 miles)
- Italian wood fire pizza at Prima Luna and check out the beach in Palomino - All you can drink river tubing down the Buritca River - Stay at the famous El Rio Hostel in Buritaca
Day 4: Buritaca - Santa Marta (85 kilometers/53 miles)

Accommodation
You will stay at various accommodations along the route. The first night will be at a hostel in Manaure. The second night will be spent in a shared private room in Cabo de la Vela. The third night will be spent in a shared dorm room at the famous, El Rio Hostel in Buritaca.

This motorcycle trip was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The perfect mix of breathtaking landscapes, unforgettable food, and an incredible guide made it truly special. Chris Spence—my guide—was outstanding. Not only was he patient and knowledgeable, but he was also just a great person to ride with. He made sure everything ran smoothly, kept the energy high, and shared insights that took the adventure to another level. His passion for the region was contagious, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. The scenery? Absolutely unreal. One moment, I was riding along the Caribbean coast with the ocean stretching endlessly beside me; the next, I was winding through lush green hills, past waterfalls, and into remote villages. And the food? Wow. Every meal was a highlight—homemade Colombian dishes in the mountains, full of rich flavors and local ingredients. Chris knew all the hidden gems, and I ate better on this trip than I have in a long time. If you’re thinking about a motorcycle adventure in Colombia, don’t hesitate—just do it. Santa Marta has it all: beaches, mountains, jungle, and rich culture, all in one epic ride. And if you can, ride with Chris Spence. You won’t regret it. Would I do it again? Without question. Next time, I might push even further—maybe an 11-day ride through the desert with the Adrenaline Addicts!
Fantastic experience with a very good and experienced guide (Max le français). The bikes were in excellent state (one was brand new) and there was no stress about hours or route. The accommodations were excellent and we even managed to get a bed in Cabo! Travel in Colombia is a real nice experience for Europeans, no hard rules and most important is to smile and they all give it back x 10! Nice food and watch out for the sugar in the coffee ( sin asucar pot favor).
