Iceland Unleashed is not your average motorcycle tour. It is a 13-day off-road expedition into the most remote, dramatic, and surreal landscapes this island has to offer. If you have ever looked at a map and wondered what lies beyond the tarmac, this is the ride for you.
Arrive in Iceland and make your way to the hotel in Reykjavik. In the evening, you meet for a welcome briefing, drinks, and dinner. Bikes are collected or checked, and final preparations are made.
You leave Reykjavik and head towards the Golden Circle, visiting Þingvellir and Brúarfoss. After warming up on the tarmac, you tackle your first F-road and ride to a remote mountain cabin. Expect gravel, waterfalls, and the start of your off-road journey.
You rejoin the coast to visit Reynisfjara black beach and the dramatic cliffs at Dyrhólaey. After lunch, you ride back inland towards Þakgil and end the day in cabins near a hidden canyon, with a memorable dinner in a cave.
After fuelling up in Vík, you ride deep into the volcanic Laki region. This is a day of river crossings, moss-covered lava fields, and epic remoteness. You overnight in a ranger hut in the middle of nowhere.
You head into the Fjallabak Nature Reserve and reach Landmannalaugar, known for its colorful rhyolite mountains. You base yourself in a hut for two nights and enjoy a soak in the natural geothermal spring nearby.
Today, you ride around the base of Hekla, one of Iceland’s most active volcanoes. For those who want a break from the bike, horse riding is an optional activity. You return to your hut for a second night.
You cross the Highlands via the legendary Sprengisandsleið trail. Expect long, empty tracks and lunar scenery. You spend the night in another remote hut after a full day’s ride through Iceland’s interior.
A full day of off-road and gravel tracks brings you to the beautiful Lake Mývatn area. You stop at Aldeyjarfoss before settling in for a two-night stay. Optional soak in Mývatn Nature Baths in the evening.
Rest day. You can relax, visit Húsavík for a whale watching tour, soak again in the hot springs, or explore solo. You will provide day ride suggestions for those who still want to be in the saddle.
You return to the Highlands on a rugged and scenic route. Expect more river crossings and expansive landscapes. You stay in a hut near a natural hot spring for another well-earned soak.
A stunning ride between two massive glaciers. The terrain is dramatic and exposed. You end the day at a basic hut right on the edge of the wilderness, again with hot spring access.
You leave the highlands and ride back towards civilisation, stopping at Gullfoss and Geysir for a final look at Iceland’s iconic sights. Your last night is spent near the Golden Circle.
A relaxed morning ride takes you back to Reykjavik. After returning bikes and cleaning up, you enjoy a farewell dinner in the city together.
Time to head home. Bikes are dropped off at the port, and goodbyes are said. Transfer to the airport if needed.
This is not a luxury tour - it is a real adventure. On Iceland Unleashed, you will stay in a mix of remote mountain huts, basic guesthouses, and rustic ranger shelters, many of them far from civilisation and surrounded by stunning natural beauty. These are places you cannot book on typical travel sites - some do not even have proper roads leading to them. The accommodation is simple but memorable. Some huts are equipped with bunk beds and shared dorms, others with cosy cabins for small groups. Facilities vary by location, but most have shared kitchens, hot showers (when water supply allows), and common spaces for evening meals and stories. One night, you might be staying beside a glacier wit
Most meals during the tour are included and prepared together in the huts or cabins where you stay. Freedom Moto Adventures will stop along the route and cook as a group, often taking turns or teaming up. This is a fun, social part of the experience and a great way to wind down after a day of riding. Breakfasts are simple and hearty - think coffee, bread, eggs, porridge. Dinners vary depending on location and supplies, but they aim for warm, filling meals that work for everyone. They accommodate dietary needs where possible, just let them know in advance. Lunches are usually on the go, either packed or bought during a fuel or grocery stop. Most breakfasts and dinners are included. You cook t
