Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Arrival in Srinagar

    You will arrive at SXR International Airport and get transferred to the hotel (transfer included) check into the room, and later meet and greet fellow riders and the organizing team. Your motorbikes will be allotted on this day in the evening, Take a short ride to fine-tune the bikes with the help of Touring Tours' mechanic.   2. Day - 2 - Srinagar to Kargil (220 kms / 137.70 miles, six hours)

    After breakfast, you will leave for Kargil town. On this day, you will ride on a mix of paved highway roads and gravel patches. Soon, you will cross Zojila Pass and travel through Drass (second coldest inhabited place). On the way, you will stop at the Kargil War Memorial and pay homage to the martyred soldiers. In about an hour, you will reach the hotel.   3. Day 3 - Kargil to Leh (250 kms / 155.34 miles, six hours)

    After breakfast, you will leave for Leh, riding on totally paved highway roads with two small mountain passes. One has to be mindful of the trucks and other cars approaching as it is a busy highway. You will visit Alchi Monastery, which is amongst the oldest monasteries in the region, after which, you will check into the hotel followed by dinner. - Inclusions: Motorbike, fuel, mechanic, marshal, back up wehicle, stay with breakfast and dinner

  4. Day 4 - Leh (Rest and acclimatize)

    This day, you will rest for the day to acclimatize. You are suggested to take a brisk walk, drink enough water, and in the evening, walk to the market (by yourself), followed by dinner at the hotel. - Inclusions: Stay with breakfast and dinner

  5. Day 5 - Leh to Hunder (150 kms / 93.21 miles, five hours)

    After acclimatizing, you will ride to the farfetched regions of Ladakh, cross Khardungla Pass (at 17 000 ft), stop for pictures, and then descend immediately. The ride for this day will be a mix of paved roads and loose sand (10%) with rough patches. This region is hotter and lower than Leh. Upon arrival, check into Swiss tents and then proceed to Hunder Sand Dunes. These small dunes provide a picnic atmosphere where one can see two-humped camels (found only there throughout India).   6. Day 6 - Hunder to Pangong Tso (180 kms / 111.85 miles, six hours)

    Have breakfast and then go off to Pangong Tso via Shyok village. This day will be a mix of paved roads, gravel (10%), and off-roads (5%), with occasional water crossings. You will stop at Durbuk and Tangtse Military camps for refreshments. In this region, you will witness heavy military Vehicles and lots of fellow bikers. Upon reaching the high-altitude salt lake, you will check into your wooden huts overlooking the lake. This lake freezes partially in winter, which is a surprise to everyone.   7. Day 7 - Pangong Tso to Hanle (180 kms / 111.85 miles, six hours)

    After a picture-perfect ride the day before, you will head towards Hanle on this day. A far and remote area unaffected by the development of the human world, this village houses the biggest telescope for astrophysics. The ride for this day will be a 50% paved road and 50% gravel road with small to medium water crossings. You will ride along Pangong for about 40 kms and then venture into remote and uncivilized roads. You will then stop at Rezangla War Memorial (1962 Indo-Sino war) and get to see the wild ass habitat.   8. Day 8 - Hanle to Umlingla to Nyoma (270 kms / 149.13, eight hours)

    The highlight of the tour - Umlingla top, at an altitude of 18 000 ft above sea level - will be done today. Be prepared to ride to an altitude above the Everest base camp. It will be windy with occasional snowfall, as well as long winding mountain roads while ascending and rough off-road while descending. You will also visit the Hanle Observatory upon return to the village, after which you will ride 70 kms towards Nyoma to a homestay for the night.   9. Day 9 - Nyoma to Sarchu (220 kms, 136.70 miles, seven to 10 hours)

    You have reached the last leg of your tour. This day, you will ride 70% paved roads and 30% under construction gravel roads, crossing Kangla Jal, Nakeela, Lachlungla, and Gaata Loops (one of the most time-consuming roads). These narrow roads with oncoming trucks will test your patience and riding skills. Constant diversion means keeping patience and riding in a group. You will stop tonight at Sarchu only as a transit point. You will not do much sightseeing today.     Some riders may not have had a good sleep due to the weather, but with a late breakfast, the group will leave for Manali. Mountain highway road. 90% paved and 10% under construction will be the ride for this day. You will see the change in topography and travel at lower altitudes. Riding in this region is a pleasant experience. Soon, you will cross the Atal tunnel (Lahaul Valley) and go into greener pastures and a hill station. Accommodation

During the tour, you will stay in hotels, Swiss tents, and wooden huts. These will have a private bathroom shared with two people on double occupancy.

Food

A mixed Indian and Chinese with ethnic Himalayan food will be served. The choice of meat is limited to lamb and chicken (poultry). Vegetarian food has no variety, with a few dishes repeated randomly. Vegan food is difficult. However, with prior arrangements, it is possible to serve. Bottled water is served with no limitation. Riding after alcohol consumption is a big no and will not be tolerated. Please note that alcohol is not included in the package.

Getting There

This tour starts from Srinagar, famous for green lush meadows and the Kawah tea. Then, you will proceed towards Ladakh, also known as the cold desert and home to the snow leopard.
