  2. Day 2: Jaipur to Ranthambore, 190 kilometers / 118 miles

This famous national park is the best place to spot wild tigers in Rajasthan. Comprising 1,334 square kilometers of wild jungle scrub hemmed in by rocky ridges, at its center is the 10th-century Ranthambhore Fort. Scattered around the fort are ancient temples and mosques, hunting pavilions, crocodile-filled lakes, and vine-covered chhatris (burial tombs). The park was a maharajas’ hunting ground until 1970, a curious 15 years after it had become a sanctuary. - Travel time: five hours

  3. Day 3: Ranthambore to Bundi, 170 kilometers / 106 miles

A captivating town with narrow lanes of Brahmin-blue houses, lakes, hills, bazaars, and a temple at every turn, Bundi is dominated by a fantastic palace of faded parchment cupolas and loggias rising from the hillside above the town. - Travel time: four to five hours

  4. Day 4: Bundi to Bassi Fort, 120 kilometers / 75 miles

You will visit Bassi, a small village situated near Chittorgarh. Enjoy the warm hospitality of Bassi Fort and witness the traditional Rajasthani village life. - Travel time: two to three hours

  5. Day 5: Bassi Fort to Kumbalgarh, 280 kilometers / 174 miles

  6. Day 6: Kumbalgarh to Udaipur, 90 kilometers / 56 miles

Today, you will ride from Kumbalgarh to Udaipur. - Travel time: two hours

  7. Day 7: Udaipur

Besides the shimmering Lake Pichola, with the ochre and purple ridges of the wooded Aravalli Hills stretching away in every direction, Udaipur has a romance of setting unmatched in Rajasthan and arguably in all India. Fantastic palaces, temples, and havelis, as well as countless narrow, crooked, timeless streets, add the human counterpoint to the city’s natural charms. Udaipur offers the quaint old-world feel of its better hotels, endless tempting shops, and some lovely countryside to explore on wheels, feet, or horseback.

  8. Day 8: Udaipur to Jodhpur, 260 kilometers / 162 miles

Today, you will ride from Udaipur to Jodhpur. - Travel time: five to six hours

  10. Day 10: Jodhpur to Jaisalmer, 280 kilometers / 174 miles

Jaisalmer is the most magical spot in the Thar Desert, offering some beautiful view of the barren lands of Rajasthan. The magnificent Jaisalmer Fort stands in the middle of the Thar Desert with fabulous view and architecture. You can dine at a gypsy musician’s house with live music performance. - Travel time: five to six hours

  11. Day 11: Jaisalmer to Sam Dunes, 60 kilometers / 37 miles

Bikaner is a vibrant, dust-swirling desert town with a fabulous fort and an energizing outpost feel. This place amazes with the history, culture, and beauty it boasts of. Even the colorful attires of people alongside the roads are enough to bring joy and delight. It is the world’s best place for riding camels. This calm city is at the heart of the Thar Desert. - Travel time: six hours

  13. Day 13 Bikaner to Mandawa, 180 kilometers / 112 miles

Of all the towns in the Shekhawati Region, Mandawa is the one best set up for tourists, with plenty of places to stay and some decent restaurants. It is a little touristy (a relative term compared to other parts of Rajasthan), but this small 18th-century settlement is still a pleasant base for your haveli explorations. - Travel time: four hours
