Itinerary

1. Day 1: Fly into Almaty (Kazakhstan)

   Arrive at Almaty International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Take in the first glimpse of Almaty’s mix of modern cityscape and snow-capped mountain backdrops.

2. Day 2: Canyon and outskirts exploration

   Set out to explore the scenic surroundings of Almaty, including Charyn Canyon. Stop along the way for panoramic views, photography, and short walks. Return to the city in the evening to relax.

3. Day 3: Almaty local city tour

   Spend the day immersed in Almaty’s vibrant culture. Walk along leafy boulevards, visit local museums, explore bustling markets, and sample traditional Kazakh cuisine at cafes. Evening at leisure.

4. Day 4: Transfer to Bishkek and half-day city tour

   Morning after breakfast, transfer to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Transfer to the hotel on arrival, and later enjoy a half-day city tour of leafy boulevards, Soviet-era architecture, and vibrant local markets. Evening is free to relax or prepare for the journey into the mountains.

5. Day 5: Son Kul Lake yurts

   Travel through winding mountain roads to the stunning Son Kul Lake (3,016 m). Stay in traditional Kyrgyz yurts, watch the sunset over alpine pastures, and observe nomadic horses grazing nearby. Enjoy traditional hospitality in this serene alpine setting.

6. Day 6: Kazarman Village

   Ride through beautiful river valleys, alpine meadows, and mountain passes to reach Kazarman village. Witness rural Kyrgyz life amidst spectacular landscapes and enjoy the tranquillity of the region.

7. Day 7: Osh and local exploration

8. Day 8: Sary Tash

   Journey to Sary Tash, near the China border, along the stunning Pamir Highway. Stop along the way for breathtaking views and photo opportunities. Evening free to relax in the high-altitude village.

9. Day 9: Murghab (Tajikistan)

   Cross into Tajikistan and ride along the Pamir Highway, one of the world’s most scenic high-altitude roads. Witness glaciers, river valleys, and remote landscapes, arriving in Murghab, a gateway to the high Pamirs.

10. Day 10: Langar and Wakhan Corridor

    Explore the remote Wakhan Corridor, following ancient trade routes along the Afghanistan border. Visit glacial valleys, fortified settlements, and enjoy panoramic views of the high mountains flanking the Panj River.

11. Day 11: Khorog

    Follow the Panj River to Khorog, the capital of Gorno-Badakhshan. Explore local bazaars, stroll through botanical gardens, and absorb the unique cultural and geographic character of this remote town.

12. Day 12: Kalaikhumb

    Continue along the Pamir Highway through winding mountain roads, rivers, and small settlements to reach Kalaikhumb. Enjoy the scenery and interact with local communities along the way.

13. Day 13: Dushanbe

14. Day 14: Dushanbe leisure day

    After breakfast, a half-day city tour exploring Dushanbe. Visit museums, local markets, parks, etc. Evening free to self-take an early rest day before the Uzbekistan leg of the journey.

15. Day 15: Samarkand arrival (Release the rental cars or bikes)

    Cross into Uzbekistan and arrive in Samarkand. Later today, return the rental cars or bikes. Enjoy the evening at leisure to soak in the city’s atmosphere.

16. Day 16: Samarkand sightseeing

    After breakfast, a full-day city tour discovering Samarkand’s treasures, including Shah-i-Zinda necropolis, Ulugbek Observatory, and local bazaars. Immerse in the city’s rich architecture and colourful Silk Road heritage.

17. Day 17: Day trip: Samarkand - Bukhara - Samarkand

    Take an early morning train to Bukhara for a day trip. Explore historic landmarks, including the Ark Fortress, Kalyan Minaret, and old madrasahs. Enjoy a local lunch in the old town before returning to Samarkand in the evening.

18. Day 18: Tashkent city tour and leisure

19. Day 19: Fly out from Tashkent
