Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Hanoi - Vu Linh (180 kilometers / 112 miles – 5-hour ride)

Leaving Hanoi and breaking out of the delta plains, you will pass through endless limestone karst scenery as you travel south through “Thay Pagoda,” country, and extensive farming lands comprising a sea of paddy fields split by tree-lined roads. You will arrive in Vu Linh in the late afternoon where you will stay overnight with friends of the Dao minority in a traditional stilt house. Lunch and dinner will be provided.

  2. Day 2: Vu Linh - Ba Be National Park (200 kilometers / 124 miles – 7-hour ride)

You will have two options, one will take you around the very end of the Song Gam mountain range, enjoying a good ride on winding sealed mountain roads and the other will cross over the very end of the range and takes you through the untarnished rain forest on challenging rocky road. The Song Gam mountain range is the main range of Northeast Vietnam. From Tuyen Quang, you will continue on a sealed road through renowned tea-growing areas where the hillsides are literally covered in plantations. From there it will be a short ride to the edge of Ba Be Lake. Overnight accommodations will be at a ho

  3. Day 3: Ba Be National Park - Quang Uyen (170 kilometers / 106 miles – 6-hour ride)

You will leave Ba Be by a fantastic mountainous road, leading you along scattering high limestone formations and heavily forested hills. Further north is Cao Bang Province, a remote area on the border with China. Cao Bang is sparsely populated. It has several ethnic communities in villages hardly affected by tourism. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

  4. Day 4: Quang Uyen - Lang So’n (160 kilometers / 99 miles – 5-hour ride)

You will travel back in time and go back to Indochina by driving the famous Colonial Road Number 4 where you will pass villages like Dong Khe and That Khe. The place is well-known for its countless bloody fights during the 1950s between Viet Minh and the French Force. In the late afternoon, you will arrive in Lang So’n City and discover the central market. The market offers diverse Chinese products as Lang So’n is the trade gateway between China and Vietnam. Before checking in at the hotel in Lang So’n, you will have an interesting visit to Tam Thanh and Nhi Thanh grottos. Breakfast, lunch, an

  5. Day 5: Lang So’n - Ha Long Bay (180 kilometers / 112 miles – 4-hour ride)
